The European Union (EU) and Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) open the doors for:  Pharmaceutical Centre of Excellence (PCO) at Salt

The Employment-Technical Vocational Education and Training (E-TVET) Reform Project funded by the European Union, implemented by a consortium led by GOPA is supporting the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), in close collaboration with the Jordanian Association of Pharmaceutical Manufactures (JAPM) and the Employment-Technical and Vocational Education Training Fund (E-TVET Fund). The Pharmaceutical Centre of Excellence (PCOE) is offering professional training, initially for a one-year (Level III) Technical Diploma in Manufacturing Operations in Production Units.
The training is part of a broader strategy to contribute to demand driven education and training, in full partnership with the private sector. Currently, 32 trainees, very impressively 16 women, are active learners in this one-year diploma training course. They are very optimistic about the future as ALL of them have already secured assurances for gainful jobs in the thriving Jordanian pharmaceutical industry.
The EU Projectin partnership with the Vocational Training Corporation and Jordanian Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers has supported the overall training programme development including  learning and training materials in a modular structure and integrated with 3 months of industry apprenticeship/internship.
The EU has also provided the VTC to set-up a library with valuable reference material. With financial assistance from ETVET fund, the training centre in Salt is fully refurbished and well equipped with a state of the art manufacturing line.
Receiving the library books, HE Mr Majed Habashneh, Director General of the Vocational Training Corporation stated; we are proud to demonstrate yet another achievement in providing demand driven vocational trainingfor young Jordanians. Working in close cooperation with industry and donors has enabled us to create a programme based on international standards ensuring employability of our students.

The European Union’s on-going assistance to the Employment and TVET Reform amounts to EUR 35 Million. This includes EUR 29 Million in direct transfers to the budget of the government done on yearly basis based on evaluation of the actual progress of the reform. Moreover, around EUR 3 Million is provided for technical assistance with a full-time international expert’s team that is working hand in hand with the Ministry of Labour and the private sector and a variety of short-term expertise mobilised on a regular basis.  End
