As part of efforts to promote the transition to a green economy, the Vocational Training Corporation and Good Neighbors Jordan have signed a cooperation agreement to implement the project "Green Socioeconomic Empowerment for students of the Vocational Training Corporation who benefit from training programs leading to employment and vocational entrepreneurship for self-employment through Employability and Business Development." The agreement aims to build beneficiaries' capacities in employment and entrepreneurship, in addition to green skills, which have become a strategic focus for economic and social development.
The agreement is structured around four main pillars: green vocational skills development, business incubation, entrepreneurship in green professions, and life skills. These pillars align with the government’s Economic Modernization Vision and aim to foster skills that support green jobs and the green economy. In this regard, VTC expressed its readiness to provide training in green professions through a specialized center that serves as a leading platform to prepare talent and advance sustainable development efforts.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Ahmad Al-Ghraibeh, the Director General of VTC, and Rasim Al-Ghoul, the Country Representative of Good Neighbors Jordan. It includes training 500 male and female students in green professions, in addition to 660 male and female students in green entrepreneurship, the most promising fields for achieving environmental sustainability and boosting productivity.
Dr. Al-Ghraibeh highlighted that this agreement aligns with VTC's efforts to enhance its role in developing green skills. He noted that the corporation is implementing a range of projects to equip youth with the skills needed to adapt to labor market changes. Four business incubators will be utilized to evaluate vocational entrepreneurship projects in green professions, and 50 projects will be selected to receive support from the Good Neighbors Organization.
He emphasized that green skills are now a cornerstone of VTC's plans, given their role in promoting sustainable development and supporting the national economy. VTC aims to empower youth with advanced skills in fields such as smart agriculture and renewable energy while enhancing cooperation with various local and international stakeholders to achieve these objectives.
From his side, Al-Ghoul expressed his appreciation for the partnership with VTC, emphasizing the importance of such projects in supporting and economically and socially empowering target groups. He praised the pivotal role of VTC in offering high-quality training programs that meet labor market needs and contribute to comprehensive development.
Under the agreement, VTC will deliver integrated training programs in smart agriculture, which will include life skills development and the promotion of health and safety concepts. These programs will be conducted in four governorates: Amman, Mafraq, Zarqa, and Irbid, providing participants with diverse environments to benefit from the training.
This project reflects VTC's commitment to fostering national and international partnerships to support the most vulnerable groups. It underscores VTC's strategic focus on developing green skills as a fundamental component of economic and social development
