The Director General of the Vocational Training Corporation, Eng. Raafat Al-Sawafineh, received the Australian Ambassador to Jordan, Ms. Paula Ganly, in a meeting to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in vocational training and skills development, and to benefit from Australian expertise and experience in advancing the vocational training system.
During the meeting, Al-Sawafineh highlighted the key roles of the Vocational Training Corporation in developing and qualifying national talent, as well as its training programs, network of training institutes and centers of excellence across the Kingdom, and efforts to enhance trainees’ skills and prepare them to enter the labor market, including the requirements of global markets.
The Australian Ambassador, in turn, presented Australia’s experience in vocational education and training, including models and practices for skills development and aligning training with labor market needs, with a focus on women’s empowerment and enhancing the participation of persons with disabilities in the labor market.
The two sides also discussed potential areas of cooperation between the Vocational Training Corporation and Australian institutions, opportunities for exchanging expertise and knowledge, and benefiting from the Australian experience in developing training programs and improving trainees’ readiness, in addition to exploring possible forms of support for the Corporation that would contribute to strengthening Jordan’s vocational training system.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued communication and coordination and exploring practical areas of cooperation that contribute to developing vocational skills, enhancing employment opportunities, and empowering target groups to access the labor market.
