Vocational training corporation in the German province of North Rhine-NRW-North Rhine-Westphalia

A delegation from the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), led by Director General Dr. Ahmad Al-Gharaibeh, visited North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany’s most populous federal state, to explore its pioneering model of dual vocational and technical education and training. The visit focused on vital sectors including electric and hybrid vehicles, heavy machinery, renewable energy, and the installation and maintenance of electric charging infrastructure.

The delegation reviewed the development and modernization of training programs, apprenticeship systems, partnerships with the private sector, and training pathways leading directly to employment. Dr. Al-Gharaibeh outlined VTC’s strategic priorities in line with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision 2025–2028, highlighting efforts to align projects and grants from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and NRW with national objectives.

GIZ, through its office in Jordan, remains a key strategic partner to VTC, supporting the advancement of vocational and technical training by updating curricula, upgrading equipment, enhancing trainers’ skills, and preparing qualified Jordanian workers for opportunities in the German labor market through the Migration and Employment Project (PAM).

Founded in 1946, North Rhine-Westphalia is one of Germany’s largest and most industrially diverse states, home to major cities like Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Essen, and recognized for its leadership in technology, education, culture, and sustainable industries.
