The Director’s Speech

The Vocational Training Corporation was established by temporary law No. 35 in 1976 and started working in 1977, as one of the development projects in the five-year plan (1976 - 1980). Currently, however, it operates under the permanent law, Vocational Training Corporation Law No. (11) of 1985 and its 2001 amendments.

The Corporation includes 35 training institutes, 350 employers, and 120 programs accredited by the Vocational and Technical Skills Development Authority. In addition, it has graduated more than 420,000 young women since its founding, who have become well-known in the local and regional private sector.

Our objective is to qualify youth for the required skills in the labor market. The Corporation's vision was created in accordance with the royal directives and with the close follow-up of His Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, aiming to prepare young people to meet the needs of the labor market. In addition to training the current workers, raising their competencies and keeping pace with technological developments.

To achieve our goals, we have been working on 5 main strategies: 

  • Improving the current programs:

Improving the existing programs at the Corporation’s institutes, to align with labor market current needs and technical advancement, in partnership with factories and companies in the private sector. 

  • Generating new programs:

In partnership with the private sector, training programs that include the required future skills are designed and developed, including skills for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the green growth economy. Additionally, implementing a training program and selecting trainees according to specific criteria based on local and global trends.

  • Digital transformation for services:

Digital transformation of the training system, and the digitization of all the Corporation’s operations and services in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and following government directives and the public sector modernization map.

  • Creating partnerships:

Centers of excellence are being developed in partnership with the private sector, public and private universities, donors and international organizations, to provide quality training services for young men and women in all governorates.

  • Exploiting and improving competencies:

Raising the efficiency of trainers in line with the skills required in the labor market to ensure the quality of training, by involving them in specialized training courses in partnership with the private sector and partner donors.
